What Is Micropigmentation? Micropigmentation is the implantation of colour into the upper dermal layer of skin. The equipment and pigments used are specially designed to give a natural enhancement of the facial features of eyebrows, eye-lining and full lip creation. Correction of shape is possible in most cases. Micropigmentation is a convenient time saver and great investment for those who want to look their best at any time. No more make-up smudge or wipe off. Who Benefits · Anyone who desires the freedom from daily make-up application · Sports people and those with oily skin who tend to lose their make-up prematurely · People with sparse, thinning eyebrows and eyelashes · People with allergies to conventional make-up · Physically impaired e.g. Arthritis · Visually impaired e.g. poor eyesight |
The length of time the pigment remains in the skin depends on the health of the skin and the skin’s ability to absorb the pigment. Permanency also depends on the pigment colour implanted. The yellow based pigments will fade from the skin before red or blue based. The natural fade out time of pigments will vary greatly from one person to another. The range of time variation is from eighteen months to four or five years. The average time for most people is three years, as aging is a continual process which means natural lightening of the skin and hair. The fading of pigment colour gives the opportunity to change pigment colour with each re-touch. Dark eyebrows may look great on a twenty or thirty year old, but not at all flattering by the age of fifty or sixty. Discomfort Factor Topical Anaesthetics developed especially for the use of Micropigmentation are used before and during the procedure ensuring very little discomfort. Some areas may be more sensitive than others. Recovery Time The healing of the skin for all cosmetic make-up procedures except the full lip creation will take an average of seven days. Flaking or the skin will be experienced by most people. Some may experience crust formation on the brows. The full lip creation may take up to fourteen days to heal. During the healing process of all the procedures, there will be a thirty to forty percent colour loss as the pigment heals from the epidermal layer of skin. Number Of Treatments Needed The original treatment will need to be followed by a second treatment six to eight weeks later. Further touch-up treatments will be necessary to keep the colour intensity as needed. |
