DR COLIN HELM

Appearance medicine Injectable Botulinum, is a particularly effective treatment for softening and reducing wrinkles such as frown lines on the forehead and brow areas of the face and “crows feet” lines. It does not harm the muscle or nerves but simply blocks the signals from the nerves to the muscles so that the muscle is relaxed and unable to contract properly. The area remains relaxed and the wrinkles are appreciably softened as a result

These treatments are becoming more popular as they offer a simple, low risk and effective option to surgery for reducing facial wrinkles. Furthermore the treatments keep the targeted muscles from being active for several months which helps people lose the habit of frowning or squinting and this in turn helps defer these lines from returning for some months as well as giving the patient a more relaxed and refreshed appearance.
Carefully selected areas of the face can be gently injected, with minimal discomfort, to relax the targeted muscles that create lines and wrinkles and offer clients a younger more refreshed appearance and prevent further deepening of these wrinkle lines. In New zealand Botulinum is available commercially as BOTOX® and Dysport®. We are able to offer both products here at Saving Face.

When considering your facial enhancement options, Botulinum treatments are quite affordable and many people are surprised at the relative cost of the treatment compared to other appearance related investments.

Dermal Skin Needling is a further rejuvenation therapy we are offering at Saving Face Advanced Skin Clinic & Day Spa. This involves using multiple fine needles to vertically pierce the skin to create controlled skin micro punctures that trigger the skin to produce new collagen and elastin to lead to improved skin texture, firmness and hydration. Needling is useful to treat fine lines and wrinkles, pores, acne scars, aged sagging skin, smokers lines around the lips, pigmentation and sun damage. It also improves the ability of the skin to absorb topical serums, gels and creams. Our Beauty therapists offer cosmetic needling to a skin depth of 1.5mm whilst Dr Colin is able to support this service with advanced medical needling to a depth of 2.5mm with local anesthetic creams. Medical needling is considered more suitable option for acne scarring or more advanced sun damage, lines and wrinkles.
